Pretty awesome, not idealFeb 20, 2010 Sound quality is way better than any onboard sound definitely. The software is kind of lacking soemtimes and glitches. Easy to fix by a few clicks but irritating.

Warning: Create X-Fi NOT compatible with Creative X-FiFeb 16, 2010 So, I spend 90 USD on a soundcard for my notebook because I like the idea of wireless streaming. Unfortunately, in order to enjoy the wireless streaming, I needed to buy a separate Creative X-Fi Wireless Receiver. So I spend another 50 USD on the receiver. Unfortunately, the X-Fi Notebook only connects with a specific X-Fi Wireless receiver, while other X-Fi Wireless Receivers are not compatible. Response from Creative: please spend another 75 USD on another receiver.
See, I'm usually quite an understanding guy, but here I really feel cheated. How can you put an X-Fi audio sender and an X-Fi audio receiver on the market and make them NOT compatible? What do you think customers are going to do? This makes me loose my faith in the good will of this entire company. No more Creative for me, ever. So I guess I consider my 140 USD spent on X-Fi as 100% wasted.
Wireless SoundFeb 06, 2010 Sound quality is superb, easy to install. Once in a while I have to unplug the device and plug it back in to have it work but this is not very often and the sound quality is good enough this is not an issue. If you have wireless networking choosing the right broadcast channel makes a difference.
Great Sound, Great Price, Great AdditionJan 21, 2010 To be honest, I've had sound cards before, but I purchased my laptop for college and found the sound quality coming from my audio codec software (included with the laptop, from Dell) to be very lacking. Thus, I purchased this card. As usual, I immediately noticed a difference in my music. It's much clearer, both highs and lows (particularly the bass has been boosted, and every song has been more balanced so it sounds better all-around). The two complaints I have include that the card costs quite a bit ($80+ with shipping) which wasn't wonderful, and that while browsing some websites I still hear a slight crackling noise due to the processor having to work so hard. If you have a high-end PC or laptop, that shouldn't be a problem at all - I'm sure it will eventually be fixed anyway!
Depends on what you needJan 06, 2010 I bought the X-Fi express card with the T20W(wireless) stereo speakers. I wanted a way to quickly and easily set up speakers anywhere in or around the house. This combo has done that, with limitations. The 100ft range is if there's no obstructions (like all wireless systems). The other limitation is that unlike the wireless receiver (SB1112) there's no audio control functions on the speakers except volume. The card adapter fits on to the express card perfectly and together fit snugly into the express 54 slot in my HP dv7 laptop. When I tested them in the same room as the laptop, there was no lag with the dvd video I was testing it with. With the speakers in the back yard it didn't matter, because it's only transmitting audio. The sound is excellent. The volume is excellent. I needed a wireless transmitter and wireless speakers with a built-in reciever for portability. If that's what you need, buy it.
