1Dissapointed in Creative!Jul 14, 2010
By Rob Hill
I thought Creative finally came out from behind Apple when they created a current player with more than 32GB of memory. I used to own both Creative Zen Vision M and V lines. Due to some abuse overseas they both had to be replaced. Unfortunately Creative no longer sold any players with more than 32GB of memory because they were flash based. I waited a couple of years for them to get off their butts to create something bigger. I even switched to Archos who make a great player but it kept crashing. Straight out of the box you would think this is a great product. That is until you actually put all your music on it. I have almost 40GB of music so one would think that this player is perfect for me. WRONG! Not only does it take way longer than the Creative Zen to send one individual song (almost twice as slow which is weird considering this thing is supposed to act like a removable drive), the library rebuild takes at least 15-20 minutes. The playlist function is HORRIBLE. With the my Creative Zen 32gb I can click on a playlist and play immediately. With this player it appears to be scanning each song EVERYTIME I load the playlist. If you have more than 50 songs in a playlist this can be extremely annoying, especially if you are on the go or driving! Now comes the wonderful part. I load a playlist finally but for some reason quite a few tracks are missing. After a few days of emailing back and forth with the brain dead tech support, submitting and RMA and finally receiving my player back I notice that it will only read 8000 songs. I looked up the limitation and supposedly that only applied to the 32GB version. The latest firmware upgrade (which I've applied) was supposed to add support for the 64GB version but apparently does not. I emailed, the clearly unknowledgeable, tech support who directed me to a process to cleanup the player. I've already done that before with no success. Finally today I get an email back saying that the player is limited to 8000 songs. Any idiot would clearly understand that 8000 songs is only a fixed number if all of your tracks are 4 minutes long, on average, and encoded at 256kb (info which is NOT on the US page but somehow the tech support personnel found it on the Singapore page). If this is not resolved in a firmware upgrade or something I do plan to get a refund on this item. I'm horribly dissapointed!

1How do you spell "bait & switch"?Mar 26, 2011
By Feadan
Creative touts this as a 64GB mp3 player. However, since it maxes out at 8000 tracks (far below the 64GB capacity) what is the point? Apparently Creative has suggested to some who have complained that they fill the remainder with pictures and/or video. Sorry, Creative, but that is not a solution! You've offered a product with 64GB of storage...a huge percentage of that is unusable with this arbitrary limit for the number of files. Using the common ballpark figure of 250 tracks per gigabyte, approximately half of the space on this unit cannot be used for music. Who thought this was a good idea? A 64GB mp3 player should be able to handle 64GB of mp3s. It's a simple concept, Creative. Wake up and listen to your consumers who are unhappy about the obvious shortcomings of this device. If a firmware fix isn't offered soon it will be the last Creative product I ever buy.

1Can't list more than 8000 songs if it storing moreOct 01, 2010
By Hiroshi Fujisawa
I'm horribly dissapointed. I bought it because I'm music fan and want to store full music tracks for 64GB maximum. However, it can list up to 8000 songs if it is actually more than it. It's a farmware spec. I can't use full 64GB for music tracks! Creative told me the rest of the memory is for the pictures and videos...

5Zen XFi 2Nov 14, 2010
By Steven D. Thompson "riddik7"
The Zen XFi 2 is currently the best MP3 player i have been able to find for it's price. I previously owned the 32 GB but i had to replace it when a power surge killed it, so now i'm ordering the 64 GB. Now i won't lie i used to be a sansa fan, but then their software went to pot. In my search for a new MP3 player i was recommended to the Zen series by a friend. I'm not going to lie i was a bit skeptical at first and i put it off for months, especially over the touch screen models as i had heard many unflattering things about touch screen MP3 players. But the need for a new MP3 player that worked properly won out in the end, partially due to the fact i needed more space as well. I Have been impressed from start to finish with the Zen XFi 2, though there are a few things i would still like to see happen. Now I'll list the pro's and not so pro's(well i wouldn't call them cons as they aren't a big enough fault).

1. TOUCH SCREEN: I read complaints about the touch screen not being sensitive enough but i have no issues. In fact i would not want it to be overly sensitive as the light pressure of my pocket lining would set off the buttons on the screen if it was. And i don't know about some people but i rather enjoy not having to lock and unlock it every time i want to use it so i call this a pro as it's not to sensitive and not to hard to use either.

2. EXPANDABLE MEMORY: I love being able to have expandable memory especially when it's a micro disk. Having a micro disk is far more aesthetically appealing than other memory cards and more convenient to store multiple cards in a case for instance. My only dislike in regards to this is it is always kept as separate memory from the rest of the MP3 player. I can see where this can be handy at times as i like to set my holiday music on my card and set the rest of my music on the internal memory so i can just hit play all for either list without worry. However, for those of us trying to expand the size of our music storage on our MP3 player it's a hassle. I have to decide what i want or don't want to listen to together. The option to set it as separate memory or to merge the memory would be very handy here.

3. EASE OF USE: Now i have also read that you can't use this MP3 player one handed. I disagree personally and i have average sized hands. It's not to slippery unless your hands are soaking wet, but it could be a problem for people with small hands. But you can easily fix the slippery issue with one of the rubber sleeves they make for this model.
The menu is simple to use and understand, and being able to search by letter is very handy though being unable to scroll from the top of a list up to the bottom is still a minor annoyance.

4. SOFTWARE: The software on the MP3 player is quick smooth and easy while still appearing sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing.
The computer software is another story. It has a tendency of being buggy and lagging. Now i don't find this software unnecessary as i like most people prefer to use WMP to transfer music files or just use document windows and copy and paste it manually. However it does have it's use in updating the software on the MP3 player easily and quickly. I would like to see this software improved to work smoother as it does have some potential but for now it is unnecessary and unwanted for the most part. This does not in my opinion hurt the MP3 players rating at all, just the companies ability to make computer software.
Another bit of software i enjoy in regards to this MP3 player is the ease with which games and other software can be made and added to the MP3 player. It is nice in the fact i don't have to pull it from the companies website only, and the fact that i can even get this stuff on my MP3 player. This is compounded by the fact that you can play or use both touch screen based games or software, and motion/elevation based. Yes it has motion sensors in it, something that normally bumps the price a pretty penny but doesn't appear to have affected the cost at all.

5. PLAYLIST: I was immensely impressed at first glance with this one. I have always wanted to be able to add or subtract from playlists on the MP3 player. That is a major plus. However, it has one downside, i can not seem to get my WMP playlists put on the MP3 player. That is perhaps the only downside i see here and would like to see that worked out.

6. Appearance: I love how this MP3 player looks. It has a nice clean sophisticated slick look that is so hard to find these days. I could feel comfortable wearing this with a suit just as easily as i would feel carrying it with me in every day street clothes.
Being able to change the background is a nice plus that you don't see often in MP3 players. The way you can choose to let the album art blend with the background or show a full pic is also a nice add-on. Though i do wonder as to why some album artwork will not show on the MP3 player when transferred over from the computer. Though that is only a minor bug it is still a small annoyance.

7. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: Looking at the amount of memory, the fact it's a touch screen and the capabilities it has and the price it is most definitely worth every penny. This is one rare situation in regards to MP3 players where i would say you are definitely getting your monies worth.

8. XFI WIFI: What happened here? This was supposed to be the upgraded version of the original XFi which was impressive in it's WIFI capability. It seems we improved and added everything else including the sink only to take away the house. I would love to see the WIFI capability brought back in the XFI2 series. So here's hoping.

9. XFI SOUND BOOST: The sound boost capabilities are amazing. Testing the quality of sound with it both on and off against other mp3 players while using Bose headphones really highlighted the difference. I always feel like my music is lacking body whenever i use other MP3 players.

In retrospect there are only minor things that are mostly minor annoyances that can be easily fixed. And all the pluses far out weigh the minuses. Definitely a 5 out of 5.

2Misleading infoMar 24, 2011
By S. Silverman
This mp3 is labeled as 64 gigabytes, however, only 8k tracks are functional. I intended to put my entire cd collection on it but at around 32 gigabytes it stopped recording. The tech support suggested that I use the remaining space for video or pictures. I had not intended it for that use. If I had that information prior to purchase, I would not have bought the unit. I feel like this is bait and switch.
