Best Player Out ThereMar 24, 2012
By toedtoes

I bought two of this little player a couple years back. I have used them non-stop since. Unfortunately, I lost one while out and about a few months back. I have been looking a players for a replacement ever since but similar ones just don't have the quality, features or simplicity of use as this mozaic. Finally, the 16gb is available again at a great price - so I bought two more (fear of losing another and not being able to get it again). I will say that this is the best player that I've had. I prefer it to iPods and Zunes. It is so durable and easy to use and it has every feature you could want. I can truly say that I love it. Below is my original review of this great little player:
I wanted an inexpensive flash drive player that would hold all my music as a secondary player to my Zunes. I ended up going with the Mozaic since it was only $70 for 16gb (have over 14gb of music). Since the price was so low, I ended up buying 3 (2 for me and 1 for a friend). I can't say enough good things about this player.
First impressions: It's a lot smaller than I expected. The photos are enlarged. It's about the size of a credit card and a bit thicker than a CD case. The comments about the small buttons are real - they're small. But, you get used to them quicker than you think you will. It's got a lot of stuff in its little package: speaker, microphone/recorder, music, video, FM radio, sleep timer, and equalizer. It works with Windows Media Player automatically and it's easy to load. The sound with my Maxell headphones (don't like earbuds) is just as good as my Zunes.
After several weeks: It's even better. The battery life is great. I charge one at night only and during the day it runs without putting a dent in the battery while I'm commuting and working. I have one in the bedroom connected to the wall charger so it never uses up the battery. I put it on shuffle/repeat with the sleep timer on 90 minutes and listen to music until I fall asleep. It shuts off automatically and I don't have to worry about it.
The speaker is nice. I set the equalizer to Rock and it sounds even better (I got a slight tinny sound on some songs without the equalizer on). I set the shortcut button to "Now Playing" which seems to be the most useful setting for it - no matter where I am in the menu, I can click the shortcut button and get to now playing and I can click the "Menu" button to get to the main menu. The shortcut button is set on speaker by default, but if you plug in headphones the player automatically turns off the speaker and if you unplug the headphones the player automatically turns on the speaker, so there's no need to have a button for that.
The buttons aren't that hard to figure out once you look at them as 1-9 (1,2,3 - top buttons; 4,5,6 - middle; 7,8,9 - bottom):
1 - Menu button; click this to move back to the Main Menu screen 2 - Up button; volume up; scroll up 3 - special menu; this gives you access to a secondary menu for a song; not necessary for most things 4 - Back button; takes you back to the beginning of the song/video or the prior song/video 5 - Select button; click to select the highlighted item 6 - Forward button; takes you to the next song/video 7 - Shortcut button; default for speaker, but set it to Now Playing for a more useful purpose 8 - Down button; volume down; scroll down 9 - Play/Pause button; click to switch between play and pause mode
My friend who is not very comfortable with computers was able to maneuver through the menus, etc. after just one quick walkthrough of the above.
Final Recommendation: This is a great little player at a great little price. If you're looking for a player that can hold around 3500 songs, sounds great, and doesn't cost an arm & leg, this is what you want. I love my Zunes, but they are much more sensitive (I crashed two from playing them 15+ hrs multiple days in a row). The Mozaics are stylish, easy to use, high quality, sturdy, and inexpensive.

my favorite player for audible booksApr 17, 2012
By Sean Dustman
"Doc in the Box"
This is my favorite MP3 player for listening to Audible dot com books. What I like about it is that it was a large memory sized flash player that lasts until the cows come home. It's the player that bridges the gap between the more expensive touch screens and the Sandisk's. On a 3 hour charge, it lasts for 17 hours, much longer then my hard drive driven Zunes. It has an external speaker that turns on automatically when you unplug the cord, nice feature. It isn't too big or to small, round smooth construction, buttons are easy to decipher in the dark and the colors are good.
I don't leave home without this little gem, I love the sleep timer and the ability to delete content without going on the computer, something that would be useful in the higher end MP3 players. I own a Zune, an IPod touch and SanDisk and I use this player more then all of the rest combined. Even though the buttons are small, they work well with muscle memory without looking. I've dropped it numerous times and even ran over one after it fell out of my pocket, the only thing wrong with it was the built in speaker sounded squeaky.
The one I just purchased today will be the 3rd of the same model, the first one was washed and would turn off suddenly so I got a new one (the one I ran over and have used for the last year). I was sad when I couldn't find one on Amazon last time I looked but got an email from Creative that had them on sale for 54 bucks and hit purchase!
I walk around with it in my pocket full of keys and change and haven't had any problems with it. It's an MP3 player pure and simple, if you like Audiobooks, there is no better player on the market. Background can be changed, you can use it for memos and can listen to FM radio but the reception isn't that good. There is also an alarm setting which works well with the sleep setting, fall asleep with it on and wake up to the same. The Battery is still going strong after a year and with it at the current price, I might just buy another in case an act of god kills my current one.
Cons- The software that came with it is buggy and slow, so I never used it more than glancing at it and thinking, I don't like it. It does play video but I've never used it for more than a gimmick either, who wants to watch post card sized videos? I have a smart phone for that but if you do, enjoy. I wish the battery was replaceable but considering it's probably the cheapest 16gig flash player on the market, I shouldn't complain.
For what I do with it, I can't imagine a player that works better. I didn't get it for games, video or internet, I have other devices that do those things great. I got it to play music and audiobooks with a minimum of fuss and ease of use and hope they never stop making this model (perhaps add more memory in the same form factor, memory is cheap!)

My Personal favorite.Apr 26, 2012
By Dizzead The Creative ZEN series has got to be my favorite of ALL MP3 Players out there. It is basic and simple, not to mention easy to use. Battery life is long, and I use solely for music, so that helps. My ONLY complaint is having to update it straight out of the box. When it arrived in the mail, I was happy, had all the song files geared to go, loaded them on and brought to work with me the next day. Alot of skipping and freezing. I actually thought it was defective!!!! When I got home, I searched online and learned most of Creatives MP3 products require updates. Not that is is a big deal, just goto their website and download it and install, but I could see it to bee a potential problem for someone who didnt think or know to do so.

Excessive delivery time/ Missing vital features from previous version.May 07, 2012
By Audiophile Bought the older version 4gb Mosaic a long time ago. Loved it, loved it, loved it! Rated it a 10 out of 5!! Dropped it, dunked it... you name it, I did it to this little tank of an mp3 player. The speaker never worked but who cares, I didn't buy it to not put headphones on it anyways. But alas I did end up losing it. So of course I thought nothing about purchasing a new one. The price was right for a 16GB version (actually a few dollars less than the 4gb I had bought years ago)and it came with free shipping (5 to 8 days.)
It took 2 weeks to get here!!! Now I won't complain about free shipping, but 2 weeks is an excessively long time to fulfill and ship an order that was not on "Back Order"
Upon opening and using the player, I noticed the lack of a Power switch. I think holding the "Play" button for powering on/off is a lame copy of other manufacture's stupid ideas, and can cause the player to power up when in my pocket a certain way. Secondly.... The genius's @ Creative thought that since they omitted a hard switch to power up, that they didn't need a button "lock" function of any kind! Again this causes unwanted pausing, stoppage and forwarding of the tracks!! Brilliant idea guys! This is a prime example of "Man's inability to leave well enough alone" I hope sincerely that Creative hasn't completely ruined a good thing by cheapening up the internals as well functionality.
