Perfect if you use the speakerApr 28, 2009
First of all, the picture is somehow not accurate because you would normally put the player top portion (where the screen is) first to expose the USB port and most importantly, the headphone jack so that you can easily plug the cords in. Also, when you examine the case, you'd notice that in the lower back portion, there are square holes similar to the built-in speaker (mosaic like) so that you can still listen to the player via its built-in speaker even when inside the case.
In spite of the low rating of this product, due to the carabineer, I still went ahead and purchased it to protect the best MP3 player I ever had. When I opened the box, I immediately checked the carabineer and see how cheap it is. I have to disagree with the other reviews as it doesn't feel cheap at all. I've held cheap carabineers given free for keychains or water bottles and the zen carabineer doesn't feel cheap at all. It always depends on the user but for me, it's the usual carabineer that you would pay for. But do not compare it to professional hiking equipments.
The case is definitely a must for people who use the built-in speaker more compared to a headphone. The case adds 2-3 bars of sound to the player because of the padding of the case. The case is made of velvet-like material and the square accents are rubber-like, it somehow amplifies the sound that comes out from the speaker through the holes of the case. I compared the sound of the built-in speaker with and without the case and the difference is unbelievably noticeable. The sound with the case is clearer and louder.
It's a bit hard to take the player out of the case due to the tight fit but that gives me peace of mind that the player would not accidentally slip out when I bring it out with me.
Cons, you can't access the on-off switch and it's hard to put the player in and out of the case. Of course you won't be able to see the screen and navigate. As for the buttons, you can use them when you flip the case's opening but you will only be able to use the pause/play and shorcut buttons because these are the only ones you don't need the screen to operate. But still, these doesn't bother me as I wanted a case where I can store my player securely when I'm outside. These may affect other buyers decision so it's worth mentioning.
Overall, the design and functionality of the case is excellent in my opinion.

Overall, I love this case :)Feb 01, 2009

I bought this case because it was specifically made for my newly purchased Zen Mosaic player, whereas most no name cases or store brand cases are made for iPods or players resembling iPods. It lets the player fit snugly enough that it doesn't slip out, you do have to put a little effort into sliding it out from this case. The only thing I didn't like is the little carabineer clip latched on broke within the first day or so of use. You can buy another little clip or rig it with a keychain which is what I did, but except for the clip being seemingly cheap this is a good buy.

Carabineer brokeApr 01, 2009
By Jen Lylan
While I like the Zen Mosaic case and think that it is attractive and a nice way to protect my Zen, I was disappointed that after only about a week's use the carabineer broke. It was a bit flimsy and lightweight for my purposes and since all I was doing was using it while I was out walking, it might be that way for most people.

well, it's a bag.Aug 30, 2010
Well, it's a bag, a tiny little bag. The Zen MP3 player fits perfectly into the bag, and there are cutouts for the built-in speaker to be heard. The clip is a nice feature. It seems odd to me that there is no option to secure headphones, and currently I have an elastic band hooked through the clip to hold the earbuds snuggly against the baggy after winding it around the device a few times...yes, it's a rinky dink solution, but what can you expect from a little bag? Perhaps the next version will have a pocket.

Zen Mozaic carabineer caseMar 04, 2009

The case is small but effective at carrying the zen around. Does not hold a zen and a rubber skin but holds the zen just right. I'm not able to see what's playing or use any buttons but it's great to keep it in while jogging or housework and latch it onto a belt or something.
