Top-quality mid-range headphonesOct 31, 2009
By A. M. Hernandez
Let me start by saying I am totally happy with these headphones. They are ultra-comfortable, sound quality is nice, and they look great. Keep in mind these are not professional quality headphones. The sound quality is pretty good, just not quite the level of the Sony studio monitor headphones. That said, if you just want some headphones to use for gaming or casual music listening then this kit is more than adequate. There is some bass, a nice range of sound and it is generally crisp and clear. I sampled a number of different electronic genres ranging from ambient to trance to dubstep, and it all sounded good. I also played some different games using these headphones and they hold up. They are also probably the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn, and that says a lot. Even wearing glasses they do not put any pressure on my ears at all. They are also pretty light and unobtrusive. The cord is rather short (which I like). Works well if you have a jack on your desk within arms length but it comes with an extension cord if necessary. Really I don't think I could be more happy with them. If you are producing audio you may want to look at the higher end, but if you are just a casual user you can't go wrong with these headphones.

Nice headphonesSep 24, 2011
Well, after 9 months of use, these headphones have given up the ghost. I'm pretty disappointed about this because I loved using them! So, caveat emptor. They're nice headphones at a decent price, but they may not last too long.
In the interests of full disclosure, I received this item through Amazon Vine. However, I try extremely hard to write my reviews as if I had paid the full purchase price, for I think this is only fair for those who read and rely on reviews.
I've always been picky about headphones. I find earbuds pretty uncomfortable (at least for extended period of time), but larger headphones like these tend to be too heavy. Lighter earphones can sound tinny and have little bass. These headphones seem to avoid all these problems.
The sound quality seems quite excellent to me, though I'm admittedly not an audiophile. Neither the treble nor the bass seems pronounced; all sounds seem quite balanced.
These headphones are also very light, which I appreciate, and sit comfortably on my head and around my ears. They also look good (and look fairly expensive)! The packaging is excellent, and would look nice given as a gift (and the recipient might think you spent more than you did). I've uploaded a couple photos to give people a chance to see the packaging.
The cord is already quite long, but they also give you an extension cable if you need more length - nice! A bag for the headphones is also included so that you can keep them somewhat protected.
Overall, I think these are quality headphones at a fairly decent price.

Not bad at allSep 22, 2011
By Henri Savin
It is not because you are manufacturing and selling excellent sound cards that you will be successful with headphones.
After all, there are quite a lot of companies dedicating themselves to headphone excellence, like Denon, Grado, Ultrasone, Sennheiser, Sony and so on...
So how is the Creative Aurvana Live! doing compared to these heavyweights?
1- The looks are very nice, simple and elegant and the material, even if made of mostly plastic, feels solid and nice.
2- The comfort is excellent. These are over (not around) the ears headphones which weight 210g (7.5Oz) and they do not weight heavily on your head or ears. Beware for the people with small heads since I do not need to extend it at all to fit my medium sized head.
3- These headphones are closed. No sound leakage was observed with them at all. Perfect for the office.
4 Most important part, the sound:
These phones having not yet been burned-in fully, we have to consider that the sound will only improve in the following weeks so I am judging it from a first try point of view.
- The Bass is there, not overwhelming, not recessed. Nice...
- Mids are so far predominant and tend to bring the voice forward. You hear the voices directly inside your head.
- Highs are there, no complaint.
- The soundstage is pretty limited, very likely due to the closed type of headphones.
How does it translate in musical pleasure? Well, pretty well I would say. The voice is predominant at this stage but you still can hear all the instruments. These speakers having an impedance of 32 ohms, can be driven straight from your mobile devices without the need of an amplifier. So far, these heaphones tends to sound a bit bassy but without overwhelming the rest. I do expect the Bass to recede a bit with time.
Let's be clear, an Ultrasone 780 or ATH-900 set will give a much better sound but their size does not make a fair competition. I would say this set so far holds its place against the Ultrasone HFI-15G, Grado SR-60 and likes...
I did my test with DJ Magic Mike for the Infra-bass, Jason Mrazz, Fiona Apple for the voice. I listened to Pop, Rap, Rock and some classical music, Jazz.
A good buy overall!
After using them for a while and more specifically comparing them to Sony MDR-XB600 and TDK ST700, I have decided to upgrade them to 5 Stars. They may not be the best headphones ever but for less than $100, these range in the top contenders.

I love these headphones but they betrayed meNov 02, 2010
I had these head phones for a while and i absolutely loved them. Im just and average sound guy i just like to hear all of my music when i listen to it and ear buds are not only uncomfortable but they suck sound wise. I was tired of ear buds going bad on me and generally just sucking or falling out of my ear so i got these. They were great the sound was great it was clear and i used them as much as i could. Then they broke. They are really flimsy near at the connector of the head band to the ear cuff. it was wierd i wore them the day before just fine put them on my desk. the next morning i picked them up and the left ear cuff just fell off. the flexible nature of the headset didn't allow for supper glue to work. now i am forced to either buy them again or find a more solid pair.

Repeat Customer for the Wonderful, and Sturdy, Creative Aurvana Live HeadphonesDec 02, 2015
By Music Disciple
Just to add a few words to what has already been said in the other good reviews. When I got these, I was looking for headphones that would approximate satisfying an audiophile, with a lesser budget. These were my second try in that category, and I have been satisfied ever since I got them. Of course, everything is relative, but in terms of sound and comfort, these make me content for a very nice price. One year later, I'm buying a second pair to use with my bedroom TV. The people at Creative should be very proud of themselves.
I've been using them hooked up to my laptop. I have trouble sitting in a regular chair, due to nerve damage, so I spend a lot of time using my laptop on the couch. My laptop is either on the coffee table in front of me, where I leave it for frequent use throughout the day, or I grab it and hold it on my lap or place it on the couch next to me while using it. There's a reason for me telling you this. It has to do with the review that implied these would easily break. Moving the laptop back and forth between the coffee table and couch is a very frequent situation, and I can't count the number of times I've accidentally dropped the headphones on the floor, when they've been connected to the always-in-motion laptop. Many, many times, and they're still perfect! Yes, I'm a dope for dropping these precious babies, but I just wanted you to know how good they are!
