5How could this be any easier?Jun 26, 2014
By MadMike
Easy to install, windows 7 took over. Connecting to website, the download was selected; one click and the software was installed. Leaving only the setup of how you prefer to listen. The channel to bass was available for boosting purposed 5.1 or 2.1 systems. The sound is great. No better sound anywhere for the price and ease of use..

4Highly Effective Software Audio SolutionAug 13, 2013
By Daniel H. Fang
For starters, there was quite a few hiccups during the ordering and installation process that marred my experience.
But I consider the product to be well worth it as it performs much better than the previous gen X-Fi MB2.

On the ordering side, Amazon insisted on charging me for $17.99 delivery. Creative's website says digital download only, while Amazon's product description said DVD-ROM.

I received the download link and serial number via email the next day, while I waited for the "DVD-ROM"... Two days later I got a refund from Amazon for the delivery fee. I am not sure if this bug has been fixed yet.

On the installation side, the installer is not particularly bright. It does not check for previous gen software and obviously won't bother to remove or disable it. I assumed the installer would simply install itself over and replace X-Fi MB2. After it seemingly successfully installed and restarted Windows, X-Fi MB2 was still running!

Lesson learned, so I had to uninstall MB3. Restart, uninstall MB2. Restart. Install MB3 again, restart. Finally then I got X-Fi MB3 working as the primary sound output for my aging ASUS F8SN.

I was instantly amazed by the clarity and volume of the sound. MP3s sounded better, DVDs sounded better, even my Skype experience was better. I was surprised my old laptop can provide adequate volume to fill my living room and two adjacent bedrooms with music without noticeable distortion or hardware damage.

Even better, the UI looks more stylish. It has been updated to the new SBX persona. But, beware as like most software designed for Windows 8. The Vista/7 era widget is gone. So the user has to adjust the utility through the system tray.

5The all-in-one solution for onboard sound cards!Feb 13, 2015
By DamZe
Most modern motherboards have very competent audio chips (Realtek) on them with 24-bit full support for 4800hz, but they come with horrible software which doesn't take advantage of the onboard audio cards potential.

This however sees Creative introduce a software suite transforming your onboard audio into a Xi-Fi Sound Blaster, with great audio effects, DirectSound emulation with ALchemy and custom profiles for games, music and movies. For most people with modern 2008 and up motherboards there is no reason to spend Money on a dedicated sound Card, as the hardware is not superior and you do not get anything special for your money, and trust me I have owned a fair share of dedicated sound cards. This software suite gives you all the functions you wanted and spices up the already good onboard audio experience and makes dedicated sound cards outdated for most users, except for professionals who need the extra features.

From a technical viewpoint a modern onboard chipset is just as capable as a 50 dollar dedicated sound card, and you more than often pay a premium for just the software these dedicated sound cards come with, Creative has acknowledged this and offered a great all in one solution which I am certain is the way to go for most people.

4Get it for the SBX positional audio, tollerate the clunky softwareJan 13, 2014
By Brad G "Brad"
It's no secret - SBX is the best positional audio system, where you get precise location AND accurate reproduction. No, it wouldn't pass your audiophile friend's 'spot the differences' test, but it doesn't have to - this codec is intended for gaming, not for jamming. There is a slight bit of distortion, but the gains for gamers are hard to beat.

... Sadly, Creative has only gotten marginally better at writing software since the days of MIDI, and the software controls like that old copy of KidPix for Mac Classic you've got kicking around on the shelf if it were ported to Windows ME through DOSBox by drunken monkeys (read: poorly). Still, it works, and it's hard to argue with results, even if the implementation is janky. If you aren't getting sound out of the game, close it, open the software up and click the little triangle in the upper right. From there, select "Set playback device" and it will help you set up things so you can get audio again.

4The Soft ware it self is grandFeb 22, 2014
By noname
my only Beef is how its activated over time sense i re install Windows a lot and SB offers no way to back up the activation for future clean installs on the same PC with the same Hard ware like MS does .. ( and YES MS has said time and time again we can back up our activation but at any time if there is a major hard ware update or we re install it on another PC, we will have to re activate.

SO why can't SB do some thing in the same way ? .. well that said ..I only give them four stars ofc the reasons the way they do activation but i do tell others to buy the this product but beware of the activation its a pain ... but its is really awesome soft ware and as far, i know works with just about any sound card but I only use sound blasters cards and have for years ,
